Rink closed for the 2020/2021 season

  Mar 6, 2021

From the volunteer manager of rink operations:

It’s official – the McCauley community rink is closed for the 2020/21 season. With the beautiful spring-like weather, the community rink is becoming a pool so it’s time to shut it down.

We would like to thank the community for all their support. This skating season brought a whole new way of operating, new rules and challenges. To everyone who came out, you all were wonderful and understanding; it was a pleasure to meet so many nice people. Thank you so much for making the season enjoyable.

This year the rink was run via more than 600 hrs of volunteering and it was a huge accomplishment. A big thank you to the following volunteers: Kevin, Adam, Harley, Taylor, Susan, Jacob, Adrian and Albert. And to the MCL board for all their support and hard work behind the scenes to make this work. Thank you!

Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL), without your support to the community leagues and direction to help us follow the AHS guidelines we would not have been able to open. You all made it easy, thank you!

To the Edmonton Oilers Community foundation for the $3300 grant that helped us purchase a sweeper attachment and pay some of the utilities. Thank you!

To the Mannarino and Pagnotta family for the monetary donation and the beautiful gift bags for the kids. Thank you!

We hope the rink helped everyone who came out during these difficult times. Hopefully next season we can get back to some normalcy and hold some of our favourite events again.

Sincerely,

Dan Glugosh
